The opportunity

We had open source SDKs, a growing developer community, and a chance to collaobrate with developers during Hacktoberfest.

The idea

With the support of many acorss the org, I got us ready to participate in Hacktoberfest and bring our ideas to life. With the support of our Community lead, I worked with engineering, design, and support to align on what we could do and how to make it happen.

Getting it off the ground

Prep went into our GitHub reports, creating or updating contributor guidelines, code of conduct. Worked with commmunications to share across our community, social, and beyond. And of course collaborating with the design team.

The Design

The design team created an incredible Hacktoberfest visual that captured the spirit of the event and our own Auth0's values and design. We placed these on t-shirts and stickers to send to our participants in true Hacktoberfest fashion.

The Impact

Hacktoberfest brought new contributors to our projects and increased visibility for our SDKs. By the end of the event, Auth0 had received 320 pull requests. The excitement wasn't only external. The scale of participation helped show people across the organization what could happen when we opened up more opportunities for the community to contribute.

What I Learned

A simple idea can create big opportunities It takes a lot of people to make it happen Open source can have a meaningful impact beyond code
